Not really, maybe?
Yesterday someone told me that one of the worst traits of human beings is that we overestimate ourselves.
There is some sense in that and if you think about it, it’s actually quite tragic. Maybe when you dissect all issues open and come to the core of it, you find that indeed we are not as “important” as we think we are. In career, no one is indispensable, eventually people all move on with or without you. In relationships, something you took a lot of pain to grow & protect could get smashed into smithereens over a tiny fraction of the time it took to build it up. At the end of it, sometimes, you may just realize that actually you can survive just fine without it.
We all take things too seriously.
Conclusion? Eat that bag of potato chips & buy the shoes.
“It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. “
– Aldous Huxley
